Banana a top staple food,
may go extinct in just 10 years due to fast spreading fungal diseases, a new
study has found. Scientists from the University of California, have found thre
fungal diseases that have evolved to a pose threat to the entire banana
species. The Fungi can manipulate the plant’s metabolic pathways and steal its
nutrients. Efforts are on to develop more study varieties of banana.
